| Ray Burns has been a physical therapist for 20 years, and a certified athletic trainer (ATC) for 25 years. I have been a Feldenkrais Practitioner®, Anat Baniel Method(sm) since 2003, with advanced certifications in Anat Baniel Method for Children(sm) since 2003.. I am 100% committed to extraordinary outcomes with all of my clients, from infants to seniors, also athletes, baby boomers, etc. I was first introduced to Feldenkrais® through a continuing eduction workshop offered for physical therapists by Joe Cordes. Joe Cordes is a physical therapist, Feldenkrais Practitioner®, and Michigan State University Osteopathic Manual Medicine series graduate, who resides in Grand Rapids, Michigan. From 1992-1998, I attended 11 of Joe Cordes' 4 day weekend courses on osteopathic manual therapy, jin shin do acupressure®, advanced craniosacral therapy, and Feldenkrais®. The 11 courses had a double benefit for me. My physical therapy career evolved learning advanced techniques. Personally the 11 courses made such a huge impact relieving my own history of pain from a severe right ankle sprain, TMJ difficulties, and scoliosis. I took Joe Cordes' advice to pursue joining a Feldenkrais® training. The reason I decided to I felt like I was missing something in my life that I missed the boat on. I knew that my scoliosis that I had been there since I was young, I feel maybe rooted to my crawling difficulties as a child. I've read that people enter helping careers for reasons to treat yourself. Maybe true. I met Anat Baniel in 1998 and joined her training in 2000 in Chicago, finishing in California in 2003. The rest is history. I am certainly grateful to Joe Cordes and Anat Baniel. Both of them are master teachers that I have learned a tremendous amount from. I actually have fun in my career and really enjoy going to work using all I have learned. I am grateful to be a physical therapist. Being a PT is what eventually led me to Joe Cordes and Anat Baniel. I also use working in the medical model as a PT as way to get the great benefits of this work out there. I frequently get asked if I workout and exercise. I used to jog, run, and workout daily. I certainly know the benefits of exercise. I ran for energy and that "runner's high, or endorphin rush", the exercise researchers theorize. Now I walk and use daily movement learning in my trainings to give me that energy and great feeling. I work for myself in private practice in mid-Michigan and do some contract home health care. |
