| Ray Burns is a Physical Therapist, Certified Athletic Trainer, trained in the Feldenkrais Method®, the Anat Baniel Method(sm), & the Anat Baniel Method for Children(SM), practicing in the Saginaw Valley of Michigan. I help people overcome pain, regain youthful movement, and walk easier. Ray's method is movement effectiveness. I create the possibility to live life better on life’s terms by surprisingly learning to move easier. Everyone has the possibility to experience serenity and ease with movement similar to how a child or animal moves. Have you had enough pain? Is your way of living and moving working? Is taking pain medication working? Give yourself permission and enroll in my method. There is nothing to loose. Pain and misery can be refundable and you can always return to old outdated ways to move. The rewards or payoffs of enrolling are random, vary from client to client, but can surprise you and be extraordinary. The risks of enrolling can be close to zero if you commit to work with painless movement, along with avoiding our culture's belief of "no pain no gain" My experience is to enroll, go through a 6 session trial, and trust the process of learning. What you are learning with my method movement effectiveness. Learning calm, undisturbed, easy movement similar to the way done by infants and children creates the possibility for surprisingly continuous productive activity with all of your life. I start by simply focus one’s attention on kinesthetic perceptions. Then I refresh your map of thinking of how to use muscular strength with effective movement. Strength and the use of muscular force with movement can be dynamic. I've experienced for years clients struggling in pain to get out of a chair. Getting out of a chair only requires only minimal thigh strength, along with momentum of the torso/limbs, and full length of the neck and spine which makes the task a whole lot easier. Also doing less is more. Remember hard work is for donkeys, and we know what donkeys are. "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler." -Albert Einstein My experience with adults and seniors is walking, getting out of bed, chairs, and off the floor can be done a lot easier and suffering years of deterioration in function in many ways can be avoided. My experience with pain sufferers is you can stop clinging to unknowingly inefficient ways to move. The brain likes a good rut. "Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one." -Albert Einstein My experience with athletes is you can easily perform at a surprisingly high level with a refreshing change in utilizing strength and power. My experience with little people having a hard time learning to move early on is they need the learning switch turned on so they can take action. Current research in neuro-plasticity, by scientists Norman Doidge and Michael Merzenich may support Feldenkrais' key theories of the possibilities of somatic re-education. I usually spend 45 minutes to 60 minutes with each client. I am no part of a profit driven corporate physical therapy franchise pushing procedures or visits. I work individually one-on-one with each client giving specific instructions. I see clients every visit. I hope to see you or hear from you. |
